Bonaventure Cemetery Ghost
The Story
Hi,
This picture was taken at the end of March at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah,
GA. This is said to be one of the most haunted cemeteries in Savannah (the
famous one from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil). In the photo,
there is a figure which looks human sitting on the second stair where the
pillars are. I did not notice anyone around when I took this picture and I
definitely did not see this "person" sitting there. It is hard to see unless you
zoom in, but it appears to be a person sitting cross legged.
Can you look to see if this is anything?
Thanks,
Sarah Gard

Analysis
It was a while
before I was able to see the purported activity in this picture. I actually had to get Sarah to
point out exactly where the ghost was supposed to be and she was kind enough to
send me a blow-up of the area to the right (the emphasis was added by me).
This is a tough call. My first instinct is that we're looking at an illusion of
light and shadow. Light, diffusing through the trees, has created the ghost's
legs while the shadow on the column created the body. In a sense, this is a form
of matrixing, where our brains look for patterns where there are none.
However, there is something about the picture that strikes me as odd. For one
thing, the "legs" are made of a diffuse gray that doesn't appear anywhere else
in the picture and, although the low resolution from magnifying the picture
makes it a tough call, it almost seems as though the diffuse gray is on the
column as well.
I'm not sure that this is an actual ghost, though. If the foggy gray were in
front of the plants in the background, I would be more convinced, but I think
what we have here is just a trick of shadows and nothing more.
Conclusion
Probably not a ghost, but there is a possibility that it might be.
