The Christmas Visitor
The Story
Hi Jason,
This is a
picture of two of my cousins, taken at Christmas, (2007 I think) following their
mother's death the previous August. It was taken by her eldest daughter with her
cell phone camera. She had gotten up from the chair you see in the bottom of the
shot, and snapped the shot...
You can see, or so we believe, that someone else had taken the seat. My recently
deceased aunt appears to be there with her three children. I can see details of
her that I recall from when she was alive, like the purple shirt, which she did,
in fact, own, and the dark roots of her hair with the lighter dyed color further
down. If it is her, its an image of her that would have been from before she got
sick and not what she looked like at the time of her death. At the time of her
death she had lost her hair from the treatments and was quite a bit thinner. Is
that normal, do you think?
It kind of looks like she is leaning toward the TV, or perhaps she was just
sitting down? Anyway, I don't even know if the picture is of a real ghost, or
what it is. I can tell you that it is definitely not anyone that was present at
the time, but I thought I would send it in and I am curious what you think.
Thanks,
Sherri.
Analysis
Christmas is such a wonderful time for friends and family that, if the deceased do pop in for a visit, I can't imagine a better time of the year for it. My aunt used to tell me stories about how she would feel the presence of her husband's brother every December. When she herself died of cancer a few years later, I walked outside during a family celebration and caught a glimpse of her in the chair she would sit in when she would go outside to sneak a smoke.
If there's anyone who believes in Christmas visitations, it's me.
Looking at this picture, I have to preface this analysis with a disclaimer that it's very small and small pictures are hard to analyze. Cell phone captures are notoriously difficult.
I do take people at their word when they send in pictures, but I would be remiss in saying that the subject in the chair does appear to be a fast-moving person who looks like they quickly got up as the picture was being taken. The way the hair is positioned and the blur from left to right would support this supposition. Cell phones are also known to take slow exposures which would allow this event to happen.
Assuming, of course, that Sherri is telling the truth about this picture and that the description is accurate, this would be a very incredible image.
Conclusion
Is the truth out there? If it is, you've had a Christmas visitor!
