The Faces of Devil's Den

The Story

my name is amie i live in gettysburg pa i took this photo while at devilsden with my kids i can definately see 4 faces thank you i have included a labeled version plus the original

Analysis

Devil's Den, the site of one of the bloodiest confrontations during the Battle of Gettysburg is reputed to be one of the most haunted placed in the United States.  Cameras malfunction there, you hear whispers, sometimes you might see a soldier from long ago or hear the faint sounds of long-dead cannons firing.  It's really a very active place.

Unfortunately, the pictures submitted here by Amie are not the result of anything paranormal, but are more matrixing - the brain finding recognizable patterns in random ones which is really no different that finding shapes in passing clouds.  Thanks to matrixing, I actually see the face of Optimus Prime in the formations.

This isn't the result of a hoax, this isn't cynicism, and this isn't rampant skepticism.  It's psychology and how our brains are programmed.  Nothing more... just as these rocks are nothing more than rocks.

Conclusion

Rocks... no more than meets the eye.
