Joshua Tree Ectoplasm

The Story

Hello! Just wanted to share a couple "ghost" pictures captured at Joshua Tree National Park. These photos were captured separately in the same location off Lost Horse Road. Back story: we took the pictures because we were sitting in a car and the door locks locked by themselves. Neither of us touched the doors at all. We left the location and on the way home, felt something in the car. Upon arriving at home, a bright flash of light appeared over our heads and disappeared instantly (like a bright camera flash, but did not leave us blinded). A week later, we went to the location with the camera and captured the first photo (has a "1" in the filename). It was taken in a sequence, one right after the other, and was the only one that showed the strange "ectoplasm." (No one was smoking, there was no fog). A couple weeks later, we went back to the same location to see if we could get any other pictures and captured the second one (with the "2" in the filename). We have no explanation for the photos or the door locks or the the bright flash of light above our heads. Just figured we'd send the photos along!

Sincerely,
Matt

Analysis

As anyone who has visited this site knows, I don't put any stock in photos of "ghost orbs" or "spirit mist" because they are too easy to explain away.  Sure, they could be paranormal but then again bright lights in the sky are often just airplanes and not UFOs -- we would be irresponsible to claim that every bright light was a UFO simply because they might be.

The same is true of these pictures.  I believe Matt when he says that no one was smoking and that there was no fog, but the mist could easily be explained away by foggy breath in the cold, fine blowing dust, or car exhaust.  There are simply too many rational explanations to these pictures and I believe that the simplest explanations are often the correct ones.

I have no explanation for the locking doors and the bright flash of light, but often these personal stories go unproved simply because they are personal.

Conclusion

Probably not a ghost.
