Rackheath Church Man

The Story

Hi, we went to Rackheath Church Norwich at the weekend and took some pictures, this attachment is one of them which we can make out to the right a figure of a man in a top hat. Would like to know your views on this if possible.

thanks
Chris and Daniel

Analysis

To the left is an enhanced look at the "man in the top hat" that Chris and Danie pointed out. I wrote them both telling them that I was unsure as to what I was looking at and haven't gotten a response back yet, but I do think this is the area indicated.

I believe that we're looking at a classic case of matrixing - finding familiar patterns in random ones where no pattern exists. Our brains are hardwired to recognize faces and bodies and, when confronted by the ancient and randomized pattern of an old rock wall, this is what our brains will try to group them into.

It's really no different than seeing faces in clouds.

Many times, matrixing leads to a lot of false positives in ghosthunting and I believe that this is simply something that looks like something it is not.

Conclusion

Do I see the man in the top hat? Yeah, I see him. Do I think it's a ghost? I hate to give a resounding no, so I'll leave this picture with a "probably not."
