Whittier Anomaly

The Story

Sent in by Chris Ayers:

These photo's were taken in Whittier, AK about a year ago. I work on cruise ships so I used to go there a lot, in Whittier they have an old abandoned military base, the place is still intact with an old hospital ward on the top floor and prison cells on the ground floor. This picture was taken in the stair well leading down to the basement below.

I was in the building alone as everybody else was too scared to go in with me... don't know if it was the spookiness or the asbestos?

I was walking down these steps when I heard the sound of a door slam just round the corner at the bottom, I quickly took a few photos and then went down. The place was pitch black and the only light I had was my iPod and the camera flash.

There was nobody in the room, just some old machinery but I got some photo's of that too, nothing showed up in them though.

Anyway, here are two pictures taken seconds apart... It's probably nothing but you never know!

Analysis

Although I can't account for the door slam, I can tell you that, judging by the two yellow lines on the upper right hand side of the anomaly photograph, that something - possibly hair - got into the picture frame as the camera flashed.  This caused a reflection back into the lens and caused the golden color of the picture.  The fact that these pictures were taken in 'pitch black" conditions, makes this explanation all the more likely since no natural light could have canceled out the reflection.

Conclusion

Not a ghost.
